Slow Down & Simplify This Summer
Good morning, everybody! I hope you are enjoying what is a gorgeous morning here in Maine. This is where I am working from today. Heaven! What beauty surrounds you this morning? Well, I wanted to say hello and send you a quick note with some thoughts on finding the beauty in our lives and taking time to nourish our families, bodies, hearts, and minds this summer season.
It is that time of year when the kids are out of school, we plant our gardens, hit the beach, soak in the sun, and enjoy longer, slower days. I've been thinking a lot about what it means to slow down, simplify, and truly give the time and energy we want to give to our health, our passions, and our families. I'd like to share three tips/challenges with you on how to make these three things a priority this summer. Let's start with families.
NOURISHING TIP FOR FAMILY FUN: Schedule in one day every week when you will unplug(no TV, no facebook, no e-mail), ditch the to-do list, and spend the day doing something fun with the people you love. For the summer, our family's goal is to hit the beach or a nearby lake AT LEAST once a week! It has to happen, because this brings my girls, my husband and I such joy and connection. Just look at these two little rascals on a recent beach day!
Whether you have kids or not, you deserve to schedule in a day for play every week of your life. Make it a priority, put it in the schedule and commit! Happy humans live longer, more vibrant lives. This is non-negotiable, people!
With warmth and light,
