Harmonious Holiday Action Step - Getting Crystal Clear About What You Want..
Here I am going to share with you a fabulous exercise that you can use in your life whenever you are trying to get super clear about your top priorities. It is called the Brain Dump.
Take five minutes to write down everything you want to do, everything you think you need to do, everything you feel pressured to do during this holiday season. Sit quietly with a pen and paper and write down every single thing that comes to you (think stream of consciousness here). Once you have exhausted the list of all of the things floating around in your head, put your pen down for a moment.
Before you proceed, I want you to get really grounded in these questions:
- How do you want to feel this holiday season?
- How do you want your kids to feel? Your partner?
- What experiences and moments do you most value and want to make happen for your family this holiday?
Read these questions and take a few moments to take some slow, deep breaths, close your eyes and get really grounded in how you want to feel this month. How you want your kids to feel this month.
Once you feel grounded in how you want to experience the holidays (do you want to feel joyful, calm, at peace, grateful, at ease, etc.) go back to the Brain Dump. This is where the fun begins. ;)
Go through your Brain Dump List and circle the top 3-5 most important priorities for you and your family this holiday season. What can you let go of? What REALLY matters?
I give you (and myself!) full permission to let go of everything that doesn't matter. I give you full permission to let go of all of the "shoulds", all of the pressures to be perfect, or "do it all".
Focus in on the joys, experiences, and moments you want to share with the people you love most. I am curious, are your plans shifting as you think about your holiday this way?
