How to be safe and strong when the world feels out of control
My heart and prayers are with all of the people, animals, plants, and land impacted by hurricanes, earthquakes, wild fires, monsoons, and floods over these past couple of weeks. As I write this, Hurricane Irma, the largest hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic ocean, has ravaged the Caribbean Islands and is heading for the Florida coast. Mexico just endured the strongest earthquake it's experienced in 85 years. Wildfires are sweeping across western states and provinces in the U.S. and Canada. And more storms are churning in the Atlantic... I send love, healing, light-filled energy to all those effected by natural disaster around the world.
It's easy to feel helpless, scared and small in times like these.
Yet I know that one of the most important things you and I can do is remember our power and believe in our purpose and impact.
Stay awake to why it's so important for you to work through fear and claim your courage in every facet of your life right now.
When you feel small, afraid, overwhelmed and exhausted it's near impossible to be an effective leader in your family, community, or career.
And what we need right now is for all conscious, soulful Mamas on a Mission to be in the fullness of our power and gifts.
Your children need you to be in your full, radiant presence as their Mama.
Your community is hungry to receive the unique gifts that only you possess.
Whatever your vocation or calling, our world needs you to embrace the impact that you're here to make.
When you feel frenzied, scattered, distracted, and confused you lose your creative center.
Your thinking gets narrow and limited, rather than solution-oriented and expansive.
But our world needs the change makers, the light workers, the Mamas on a Mission, who are ready to live their truths despite any and all fears that may be holding us back.
We are navigating a time where many events outside of our control create feelings of fear, chaos, lack of safety.
And the reality is that so much is out of our control.
But today I want to speak to what is in your control.
I'm going to share three daily practices you can use to find peace, courage, and clarity on how to be of service during these times: (1) Get grounded, (2) Find your rhythm, and (3) Take your place in the chain reaction.
I want to keep this simple and doable so today I'm only sharing daily practice #1. I'll share the second two practices over the next couple of days.
DAILY PRACTICE FOR PEACE, COURAGE, & CLARITY #1 --
Take 5 minutes every day (or plenty more if you'd like) to step outside and feel your grounded connection to the earth. No phone. No email. No distractions.
Sit. Be still. Breathe. Feel the earth beneath you. Align your breath with the natural world around you. Allow your nervous system to relax with every breath.
Find your footing. Feel the strength of your legs holding you. Listen to your breath and your heart. Feel your courage.
Breathe in this affirmation:
I am grounding into my power so that I may live this day with courage, clarity, and grace.
Hear that quiet inner voice that's always here for you.
Connect into the earth, your body, and this present moment of grounded power for at least 5 undistracted minutes ever day.
I would love to hear from you. Let me know how it feels to do this grounding practice and how it's helping you reclaim your power.
There are always going to be events in your personal life and in our larger world that have the potential to shake you to your core. It's okay to be shaken, it's a normal response to intense times. And it's vital that we are in the practice of grounding back in and finding our centers so we can lead our families and communities with wisdom and grace.
You can find your next Daily Practice, Find your rhythm here.
For now, I'm wishing you the experience of embodying grounded, calm, peaceful energy. And encouraging you to imagine your good grounded energy radiating out to all those who are navigating intense times today.
With warmth & light,
