How you will take care of YOU this holiday.
Two things you can do NOW to stay healthy this season
And they won't hurt, I promise.
I want to ground you right now in one of the things I share with every single one of my private clients:
Taking radically good care of yourself (in BODY, MIND, & SPIRIT) is seriously good parenting.
When you fill your cup first, you have so much more to give to your children, your partner, your friends, family, the whole WORLD! The holidays are most definitely a time when it is so easy to forget to take good care of ourselves. Here is what I want for you.
I want you to take amazingly good care of your body, feel intellectually challenged and fulfilled (even if you have kids under the age of 5!), and experience heartfelt joy at the soul level.
Here are TWO simple and fun things you can easily infuse into your daily habits and holiday celebrations:
1. Start your day off right - Apple Cider Vinegar, A Hearty Breakfast, & Smoothies, Oh My!
What is in this cup that gets me feeling all clean inside, improves my skin, digestion, and helps prevent weight gain over the holidays?
It's simpler than you might think. This magical little morning drink is Apple Cider Vinegar!
I have been experimenting with a number of different approaches to cleansing over the past year and this is one habit I picked up that I just love. When I wake up every morning I drink 8 ounces of hot water with 1 tablespoon of Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar before I eat or drink anything else. How does this little ritual benefit my health?
Apple cider vinegar is highly alkaline and pulls toxins from the cells so it is a great way to "break the fast" from a night of sleeping and set your body up to release those things it doesn't need.
This magical liquid also helps clear up skin conditions and blemishes, giving your skin a more radiant look.
Drinking apple cider vinegar in the morning also gets your lymphatic system moving after being a bit stagnant from working hard while you sleep. An improved lymphatic system boosts your overall immune functioning. Need I say more?
Okay. One more thing. Drinking this little concoction in the morning helps you break down fats and use them instead of store them.
I challenge you to try starting your day off with apple cider vinegar and hot water! If you'd like to sweeten it a little, I suggest a drizzle of local raw honey.
Another brilliant thing to enjoy in the morning, whether it be for breakfast or a mid-morning snack is the Green Smoothie.
Here is the recipe my girls and I enjoy on a regular basis: The Nourished Home's Super Green Smoothie.
My good friend and colleague, Laurisa Truemper of Beyond Beautiful Skin, just posted this delicious seasonal Cranberry Crush Smoothie that looks so yummy. I will be making that for myself this week!
Bottom line. Enjoy a delicious and satisfying breakfast so that your blood sugar doesn't plummit and cause you to eat donuts and cheeseburgers by 11:30 in the morning.
